It’s always yummy at Country Roads. Lunch is something special to talk about. Most people didn’t know that Co-Director Chris Gabriel started his career almost 40 years ago as a Johnson and Wales Culinary School Graduate. While working as a chef, he met Katrina and the rest they say is history. Chris spent his first summer in 1989 as the cooking specialist at Country Roads building smores on an open fire pit. He always had a vision for the lunch program, nutritious, delicious and plenty of it.
He literally built, “The Pitstop”, an all-day Fruit Station where campers could refuel throughout the day on watermelon, apples, oranges, bananas and strawberries. Staff and campers loved it!
Salad and Sandwiches: Garden & Ceasar salad, turkey, ham, and cheese sandwiches
Fresh out-of-the-oven bagels are delivered every morning and are always available, along with yogurts, and string cheese.
Two other favorites returning are: Chicken or cheese quesadillas, Chris’s homemade guacamole ; and grilled cheese sandwiches. Bags of chips are available everyday with all lunches.
PASTA BAR…everyday…from penne vodka to elbows with butter; from red marinara sauce to delicious mac n’ cheese.
Chris travels to all the food truck festivals in NJ and he scouts out the favorite new trends…more great meals every summer. Bring your appetite and “Eat Up” at camp!
